Background
Dr. Cegielski is Professor of Information Systems Management at the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University, and the J.W. Woodruff Sr. Professor. Currently, he teaches applications of open source software for business analytics, information security, risk analysis, application development, and a doctoral seminar that surveys the information systems reference discipline of sociology. In 2006, with support from KPMG, LLP, Dr. Cegielski developed the United States’ first interdisciplinary Information Assurance program in a college of business. To date, the program has more than 50 graduates with 95% of those who completed the program initially securing employment with “Big 4” information assurance firms.
Academic
Professor Cegielski earned his MAc from the University of Alabama and his PhD from the University of Mississippi. Professor Cegielski is the author of more than 50 research articles that have appeared in numerous international information systems journals and proceedings. His recent research has focused on the inter-organizational use of cloud-based information technologies.
Dr. Cegielski has been honored several times by his department and the Harbert College of Business for his outstanding contributions in teaching. In 2013, Auburn University awarded to Dr. Cegielski it’s most prestigious teaching honor the Gerald and Emily Leischuck Endowed Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Corporate
Dr. Cegielski has more than 15 years of professional experience in the area of information technology. He has served as a senior IT executive as well as an executive IT consultant in the financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. Dr. Cegielski holds several active professional certifications including CISSP, CISA, and CRISC.
